Detritus

This series began on the Isle of Eigg, where I became increasingly aware of the quantity of material washed ashore by the sea. Plastic debris mingled with driftwood, seaweed and other natural remains, creating complex accumulations along the tideline. The work explores both the environmental tragedy represented by this waste and the unexpected aesthetic qualities found within it. Detritus asks us to consider the relationship between human activity, natural processes and the objects we leave behind.
