Woodwalton Fen
Woodwalton Fen is one of Britain's most significant wetland restoration projects and a landscape that embodies both ecological recovery and uncertainty. Through layered marks, expressive brushwork and shifting tones, these works attempt to convey the sensory experience of being immersed within the fen. Wind, water, reeds and changing light combine to create an environment that feels both expansive and intimate, familiar and mysterious.
From a personal perspective I do not have an intimate relationship with the Fens, having only visited once however they have a vivid place in my imagination stemming from the book 'When Marnie was there' by Joan G Robinson a childhood story read to me by my mother and more recently by the Michelle Paver book 'Wakenhyrst'.
