Marram Grass

Marram grass plays a vital role in stabilising sand dunes, binding the shifting sand through an extensive root system while trapping new deposits with its leaves. Beyond its ecological importance, I am drawn to its sculptural qualities. The stiff, architectural forms and constant movement in the wind create a subject that sits somewhere between drawing, sculpture and landscape. These works explore both the visual beauty and environmental significance of this remarkable plant.
